How Long Does it Take To Rank in Google - Infographic

Even the most experienced marketers are often baffled by the ranking factors behind the coveted first position in Google search results. There are so many variables to take into account that you can never be 100% sure that your page will rank on Google even if you do everything by the book.

Fortunately, a study conducted by Ahrefs has brought us a little bit closer to answering the question of 'how long it takes to rank in Google'.

What the team at Ahrefs did first was to look at how old the top-ranking pages on Google were. Based on the data pulled on 2 million random keywords, the Ahrefs team discovered that the average Top 10 ranking page was 2+ years old, while the pages at first position were almost 3 years old on average.

It also turned out that only 5.7% of the studied pages ranked in the Top 10search results within 1 year for at least 1 keyword. These pages managed to climb to the top in approximately 61 to 182 days, and the pages from websites with a high Domain Rating (DR) performed markedly better than those with a low DR.
