As an Apprentice Business Administrator, I have a variety of responsibilities in the office that keep my days both busy and rewarding. Typically, I spend most of my time:
In between these duties, I also work on my apprenticeship studies. This includes attending workshops, completing assignments and e-learning, conducting project research, and more.
Now that I’ve been in my role for over a year, I’ve found a good rhythm between my job and my studies. I usually make the most of quieter times in the office to complete apprenticeship work. Additionally, I dedicate every Friday to study time—either from home or in the office—which I find incredibly helpful for staying on track
Beyond my day-to-day tasks, I’m also responsible for:
Every day brings something new, with fresh challenges and opportunities to learn. That’s where my apprenticeship training really proves its value.
A great example of this was attending a business finance workshop last year with my peers and mentor. It gave me the confidence to better understand invoicing and the financial side of the business. As a result, I’m now able to communicate more confidently with clients and staff about invoices, wages, and other finance-related matters.
I attend these workshops monthly, and they have become a key part of my professional development. Each session allows me to apply what I’ve learned directly to my role and see real improvements in my work.
Working for a small business means I work closely with my two managers, which is a big advantage. It allows me to:
Seeing how they handle real situations helps me develop practical knowledge and professional judgement.
My apprenticeship has had a significant impact on my career progression and confidence. Regular 1:1 mentor sessions help identify my strengths and areas for improvement, while setting achievable goals.
My management team and colleagues are also a huge support—they’re always happy to answer questions and share insights, which helps me grow every day.
Being a Business Administrator Apprentice is more than just a job—it's a learning journey. Every task and every challenge is a stepping stone in both my professional and personal development. I’m proud of how far I’ve come, and I’m excited for what’s still to come.
