A Chartered Marketer with diversified marketing and business development experience that includes over 15 years working for great brands ranging from quick service restaurants to telecommunications. He was head of marketing and business development for various brands like Hard Rock Cafe, KFC, Carl’s Juniors, TGI Fridays, Adobe, General Mills, Unilever, Total Supply & Marketing (French Energy Giant) and many more.

Being a marketer to Karim was more than just executing marketing plans. It was more about the strategic, operational and tactical outlook which makes a marketer think on all levels in the organisation and successfully lead marketing teams. Karim was inspired by strategic marketing planning and experienced the benefits of such planning efforts with the great brands mentioned above, which led him to start delivering the CIM Professional Qualifications in Marketing with one of the leading universities in the Middle East; The American University in Cairo, Egypt. He then joined Professional Academy until he became a Senior Tutor, delivering all CIM qualifications with the academy since 2012. Karim has specific interests in how technological advancements can support the marketing function. He researched RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technologies and its impact on supporting promotional and logistical organisational efforts.

Karim Salem holds a B.A. in Political Science specialised in Political Economy. He also holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration from Heriot Watt University, UK. Furthermore, he holds a CIM Professional Diploma in Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing. He later became a Full Member of the Institute and earned the Chartered Marketer title.
