Jill has worked in a variety of organisations, big and small, and is very happy to have returned to the Professional Academy team where she was previously kept busy for about 8 years. She has three grown up children and with one studying in Canterbury, one working in Brighton, and one studying in London she has lots of options for weekend destinations, but instead is taking full advantage of her freedom by visiting various European cities.
She worked freelance as a proof reader and copy editor for 15 years while her children were young and has a passion for English. She has a degree in English Language and English Literature, some of which was completed whilst working, so has a good understanding of the demands of work, family and study. She then went on to complete the CELTA course in Cambridge with a long-term plan to teach English abroad – so far the right opportunity has not presented itself yet. In the meantime she has helped several students study for their GCSE and A level qualifications.
Her interest in young people and their development is further demonstrated though her involvement with a local Brownie pack where she is a Warranted Leader and she also acts as a mentor for Young Leaders.
Her current ambition is to complete a History of Art qualification (especially as this will involve more visits abroad to study European artists) and she enjoys painting with watercolours, along with attending live music events, gardening and reading. She counts herself lucky to have friends who share her interests so exhibitions and gigs are a frequent features on her weekend calendar.
