Employer development route

Diplomas in Business Excellence for employers who need structure without rigidity.

A flexible, role-based alternative to one-size-fits-all accredited routes, designed for employers who want team development that can be shaped around real business needs, delivery preferences and workplace application.

Why this route exists

An alternative to traditional accredited pathways when the employer needs more freedom.

Using Professional Academy's experience in professional development, DIBE was created to give employers a more modular, skills-based route that can be tailored around role, sector, pace, delivery format and business context.

  • Single-discipline or multi-discipline design
  • Office-based, workshop and interactive eLearning options
  • Assessment methods matched to the employer context

What DIBE is

A structured alternative when a fixed qualification syllabus is not the right fit.

DIBE starts with a proven development structure, then adapts the learning outcomes, delivery and assessment around the employer's context. It is not a formal qualification, but it gives organisations a clear, credible framework without committing every learner to a prescribed syllabus, assessment timetable or awarding-body model.

Learning outcomes

Tailored without starting from scratch

We begin with an existing, practical programme structure, making development faster than creating a new academy from a blank page. Learning outcomes can then reflect your roles, sector, internal language, processes, customer context and capability priorities.

Delivery model

Designed around how your team learns

Combine office-based learning, workshops, interactive eLearning and blended support in the way that suits your cohorts. DIBE can also be branded and managed as an internal academy, with Professional Academy and the Refinery LMS supporting the experience.

Assessment

Evidence that matches your standard

Assessment can validate the standard your organisation wants to achieve, using the method that fits the role: for example, role-play, project work, observation, reflection or an online test. You can also agree when assessment takes place rather than following a fixed timetable.

Recognition and cost

Recognition without a prescribed award

DIBE does not carry the standard awarding-body registration and assessment fees of a formal qualification, so investment can focus on learning design, delivery and support. Where appropriate, the programme can also be externally endorsed by an awarding body such as the ISP, CMI or CIM.

DIBE questions

Frequently asked questions about DIBE

Understanding DIBE
What is a Diploma in Business Excellence (DIBE)?

DIBE is a structured, employer-shaped development route. It starts with an established programme framework, then adapts learning outcomes, delivery and assessment around the roles, context and capability priorities of your organisation.

Is DIBE a formal qualification?

No. DIBE is not a formal qualification and does not follow a prescribed awarding-body syllabus or fixed assessment timetable. It provides a clear, credible development structure while giving employers more flexibility.

Can DIBE be externally endorsed?

Where appropriate, a DIBE programme can be externally endorsed by a professional body or awarding organisation, such as the ISP, CMI or CIM. External endorsement is distinct from a formal qualification.

Programme design
Can DIBE be tailored to our business?

Yes. DIBE begins with an existing practical structure so tailoring is faster than creating a programme from scratch. Learning outcomes, module mix, language, examples and workplace application can reflect your roles, sector and priorities.

How can DIBE be delivered?

Delivery can combine office-based learning, workshops, interactive eLearning and blended support. The mix is agreed around the needs of the learner group, the workplace and the capability you want to build.

How is DIBE assessed?

Assessment is designed to validate the standard your organisation needs, using methods such as role-play, observation, project work, reflection or online assessment. The timing and method can be agreed around the role and workplace context.

Choosing your route
Which subject areas can DIBE cover?

DIBE can support focused Sales, Marketing, Management and Customer Service pathways, or a broader multi-discipline route. The modules shown on this page are examples rather than the complete selection.

Does DIBE include awarding-body fees?

DIBE does not carry the standard awarding-body registration and assessment fees associated with a formal qualification. Investment can instead focus on learning design, delivery and support; any external endorsement requirements are agreed separately.

How do we get started with DIBE?

Start with a short consultation to discuss the capability you want to build, the teams involved, delivery preferences and the evidence of success you need. We can then help shape the right route and module mix.
