Tackling Your Reading
An important part of your studies, whatever qualification you are working towards, will be the time you devote to reading your text books and other recommended texts or websites. The text books provided are carefully selected so they are comprehensive, easy to understand and relevant to the syllabus. They will be referred to by your tutor during your workshops and so unfortunately there is no escaping the fact that reading has to be done, but the important thing is to be positive and organised about the process. We recommend visiting the online members area and beginning your reading prior to attending a workshop to familiarise yourself with the module's subject area. This is particularly important for modules which are assessed by exam as the workshop is held only once the exam details have been released which is only a few weeks prior to the exam date.
The key to success is to be aware of the relevant deadlines, schedule your studying so you set aside appropriate time and understand your own approach to learning. Do you absorb information best by writing notes? Or can you read something once and then apply it directly to questions and assignments? A little and often approach to reading generally works best, allowing you to cover the syllabus effectively without having a mountain of pages to get through just before the assignment deadline! There is lots of help available in the members area on study methods, revision help, advice and guidance.
Once enrolled you will receive more advice and guidance on how to study and to find out what method works best for you.
